AS FEATURED ON...
& MANY More
Hey, my name is Andrew O'Brien A.K.A The Business Publicist. I want to give you a quick run down of my story....
I was raised by a prostitute mother and witnessed a lot of sexually traumatic things as a child. I grew up in cars, trailer parks, small apartments and etc. To escape my childhood and grow up, I decided to join the Army. I was in from 2007-2011. I deployed to Iraq from 2008-2009 where I served as a lead gunner. A year after returning home from Iraq while still in the Army, I attempted to take my own life. Luckily I failed at the attempt. I got out of the Army in 2011 at my normal contract end date. 10 months after getting out, my mother murdered her husband. She shot him in the head while he was sleeping. She asked me to help frame his ex-wife for the murder and I refused. I didn't inform the police, I just moved away from her. Shortly after she tried to pin the murder on my brother, that's when I decided to go to the police to tell them what she asked me to do. I testified against her in court where she was found guilty and sentenced to 60 years in prison.
What does this have to do with publicity?
After experiencing all of this and hearing about the Veteran suicide epidemic in 2013, I realized that I wanted to share my story with Veterans around the world to show them that they too can make it through. Problem was, I had no audience. So I took to the media to share my story in hopes of getting it in front of more people. My plan worked. After my second media interview, my career as a public speaker took off. Over a 3 year time span I was interviewed on over 70 global media outlets, spoke on over 100 stages and became one of the most requested speakers by the United States Army. Getting paid anywhere from $5-25K to speak. I ended my career in Veteran mental health in 2016 with a bang, my last stage on the topic was me speaking at the White House.
I quickly realized the power of good publicity. I also learned over the years and many interviews on how to make it happen. There wasn't one city during my speaking tours where I didn't end up on the news.
That is what led me down the path of Public Relations. I built a 7 figure PR company, crashed it. Took a step back to learn more about being a business owner and not just a publicist. During that time I built the world's largest online community of Military Veteran Entrepreneurs to ever exist. Now I'm back in the PR world in a whole different way.
